Everest Base Camp Tour

Kathmandu and Lhasa

Flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa reveals one of the most magnificient views of towering peaks and sweeping landscapes of the Tibetan Plateau.  During your weeklong tour of Tibet, you will be visiting the Potala Palace, former home of Dalai Lama, the holiest of holies temple of Jokhang, where pilgrims from far and wide come to postrate themselves as its many shrines.  Meet the locals or do shopping in the popular Barkhor market, Tibet's biggest bazaar and a sacred circumbulation route.  Visit Norbulingka, the summer palace of Dalai Lama. Watch fisherman on the Kyi Chu River in their yak -skin coracles or visit the ancient Lukhang temple behind the Potala.

Tibetan Plateau and Everest Base Camp

The scenic overland drive back to Kathmandu include stops at Gyantse, with its Newari-inspired temple, and Shigatse, the country's second largest city and site of the impressive Tashilumpo Monastery, seat of the Panchen Lamas. The barren, windswept Tibetan Plateau has a stark beauty all its own, as you approach Shegar and the excursion to Everest Base Camp on the Tibetan side. Leaving the awesome views of the tall peaks behind, you now head over the last high pass and down to the Nepal border.
